Alpine Schmitten adventures

The Schmittenhöhe is a little smaller, but quite impressive in its own right. It is situated right on the doorstep of your ski hotel. An impressive 77 kilometres of slopes – 30 blue (easy), 28 red (medium) and 19 black (difficult) – are accessible by 28 cable cars and ski lifts, with six access points in Zell am See, Schüttdorf and Viehhofen.

In addition to the challenging downhill runs for all ages and abilities, the Schmitten has several high-calibre highlights to offer. The Trass Abfahrt is known as the ‘Hahnenkamm of the Pinzgau’, and with good reason. At a gradient of up to 70%, this slope is reserved exclusively for the absolute pros. The Schmitten Action Cup, on the other hand, focusses on endurance. The more slopes skied and photo points reached, the more badges can be collected – with prizes awarded every month.

Families with children will also find great experiences for their winter stay in Zell am See. Schmidolin the Ski Dragon accompanies kids who are taking their first alpine steps on skis in the children’s ski area, which includes fantastic attractions such as the Kids Slope, the magic carpet and the dragon tunnel. Guest of all ages can let off steam on the XXL Funslope with age-appropriate tricks and courses for everyone.

Scale the mountain summits

Tackling the mountains on touring skis when the weather conditions are good is a unique experience. One special insider tip is the Ronachkopf. It is located across from Zell am See, in Thumersbach. A whole mountain just for ski tourers.

After a leisurely refreshment stop in Enzianhütte you can then look forward to heading down the pistes.
